Enrique Bencomo
Enrique Bencomo is a filmmaker based in Mexico City. He has been filming, directing, editing, and doing sound design for the past 15 years shooting documentaries, shorts, commercials, and movies across the world. He has shot in Nepal in the middle of an earthquake, in refugee camps in Lebanon, in Colombia in a migration crisis, in narco territory in Mexico, and in rural Kenya, to name a few.
Bencomo has directed, produced, and edited two full-length fiction feature films including Atacama, an independent film with a budget of $10,000 that was selected in festivals such as Habana Film Festival and SANFIC Chile.
His most recent project, Muérete en Casa, a post-apocalyptic thriller mini-series that he wrote, directed, filmed, and edited, won several awards including Best Web Series and Best Short Film and got selected in more than 20 film festivals.
Bencomo also teaches and wrote a book for independent filmmakers on how to make low- to no-budget films, where he shares what he has learned and expands on his philosophy that in art, and in life, the greater the challenge, the greater the opportunity for creativity. He also shares tips and tricks on his blog.
He lives with his pet plants in Mexico City.
